She flung herself to the floor and grabbed his legs. Tears cascaded down her cheeks. "Don't go!" she pleaded.

"Do not embarrass yourself woman, to your feet, this has to be done."

He fastened his belt and adjusted his sword. She looked up at him through tearful eyes. He smiled and grabbed her arm, pulling her towards him.

"It is on this day that I go into battle.  I fight for my land, my wife and my two children.  It is from this love that I draw my strength and I will fight with my heart.  I will drive this terrible enemy from our land and we shall once again live in peace and harmony."

She sobbed and turned away. The knight held on to her arm firmly and kissed it. His nose savouring her smell for it would be some time before he would be with her again.

"I promise to you my love, that I shall return, triumphant and undefeated in battle, for I am your husband, for I am Arkarthurer."

Arkarthurer is a character created by Rob Wassell.

"I came up with the name Arkarthurer around 1997 when I was playing a lot of computer games online. It was my alias or character name within the games and it kind of stuck as some kind of alter ego. Its a great name and I have formed this character in my mind that I have transferred to print. I had imagined Arkarthurer to be strong, wise, inventive and resourceful yet at the same time having a very human side to him. Not only a loving husband, but also a father who is both creative and musical.

Once a much-feared warrior who fought bravely for his king, he won not only a castle and land, but also the heart of the kings daughter, Movina, who was to become his wife and mother of their children, Tallin and Portha.

The king is now old and although their land had seen peace for many years, their way of life is now under threat. A fleet of a hundred ships had set anchor on the coast and an army ventured North in their direction. Scouts had reported thousands of giants with huge swords. Killing everybody and burning villages that lay in their path.

The king had ordered his once loyal warriors to help one last time. This is where we join Arkarthurer - as he says goodbye to his wife to venture off and rid the enemy from their land.

Coming at some point in the future, to a bookshop new you!"
